Not everyone receives a bill for Medicare. For example, if you pay your Medicare premiums out of your Social Security retirement benefits, you might never get a bill from Medicare. If you do get a bill from Medicare, you can pay it online by setting up a MyMedicare account. There’s no fee to use this service.

You’ll need to be enrolled in both parts of original Medicare to get any additional parts of Medicare. No matter what other Medicare parts you use, you always pay for original Medicare.

You might be able to pay these parts online, but it’ll depend on the company and your specific plans. Some companies might not offer online payments. However, you should still be able to use online bill pay from your bank.

  • Medicare Part A.Most people getPart Awithout a premium. However, if you or your spousedidn’t workfor at least 40 quarters (10 years), you may owe a monthly premium.

Once you’re logged in to your MyMedicare account, you’ll be able to pay your premiums online. To do this, look for the option to pay your premium. Select it — you’ll be taken to a screen where you can enter the amount you want to pay and the method you want to use. You can pay online using your:

Once you complete your payment, you can see all your past payments. You can also log back into your MyMedicare account at any time to check the status of your payment. It’ll take between 3 and 5 days for a payment from your checking or savings account to process. Payments made with credit or debit cards typically go through a little faster.

You can also switch to electronic statements while you’re logged into your MyMedicare account by following these steps:

  1. Select “My account.”
  2. Click on “User information.”
  3. Click on “Email and correspondence settings.”
  4. Scroll down until you find a section called “Electronic Medicare summary notices (eMSNs)” and click “Edit.”
  5. Select “Yes” when asked if you want to start getting electronic Medicare summary notices, and you’ll be all set to go paperless.
