Naively, I assumed that a down pillow — punched into the perfect height and shape — was as good as it was going to get. The Pluto Pillow changed my mind.
It never occurred to me that a pillow could have such a profound effect on how I feel when I roll out of bed. I didn’t connect my alwaysaching neck, stiff shoulders, andtight upper backwith my soft, squishy pillow. Instead, I assumed it was from a hard workout or that I had slept in a weird position.
I was also a pillow snob, under the mistaken impression that the very best filling wasdown. So when the opportunity to test out aPluto Pillowcame along, I was both reluctant and skeptical. But my skepticism vanished completely the second I put my head on my new made-just-for-me pillow. And when I woke up the next morning with zero aches and pains, well, that’s when I became a complete convert to the Pluto Pillow.
Pluto says they’re the first and only custom sleep pillow brand. Their pillows are customized to your body stats, sleeping habits, and preferences.
目前有35个变化可能,means just about every Pluto Pillow is going to feel different. And that makes sense, as every pillow is being made according to someone’s unique specifications.
The first step in creating your Pluto pillow is to go throughPluto’s personalization questionnaire. It’ll ask you a series of simple questions relating to your height and weight, typicalsleeping positions, current pillow, and general pillow preferences. The resulting data is run through an algorithm that spits out a pillow based on your highly individual sleep profile.
Then, your made-to-order pillow is reviewed by a real, live person who ensures that all of your requests have been met.
Every Pluto pillow is constructed with ahybriddesign that blends a foam inner core with an outer plush layer. All the foams areCertiPUR-US certified, which means they’re made without a laundry list of problematic chemicals and other materials.
Depending on your answers, the plush cover may be smooth, quilted, cooling, or made with a高的线程数量. The customization thing is key: You really won’t know what you’re getting until it shows up.
What you see in the cart when you check out isn’t actually your custom pillow, and Pluto explains why. There’s a lot of work and thought going into your pillow, and that image is just a placeholder while your data is analyzed and the ball starts rolling.
Don’t let the uncertainty scare you. Pluto offers a 100-night trial that means zero risk to you. They ask that you give yourself 2 full weeks to adjust to your new pillow. But if it’s just not working for you, they’ll send you a prepaid shipping label so you can send it back for a full refund.
If your returned pillow is in good shape, Pluto will donate it. Otherwise, it’ll be recycled.
And if you’re experiencing sudden buyer’s remorse and panicking about your answers, or your pillow has arrived and it’s not quite right, Pluto is happy to help you out. Pluto addresses these exact scenarios on theirFAQs page, and there’s an email address so you can inquire about next steps.
The company also offers a warranty against material defects and workmanship for a full year. It’s pretty generous, covering things like fabric tears, cracks in the foam, malfunctioning zippers, and unraveling stitches.
If you’re wondering what all of this is going to cost you, it’s probably not as bad as you think. There are two prices dictated by size, no matter how your pillow is ultimately built.
Standard-size pillows measuring 24 inches by 16 inches are $95. Theking-sizepillow, at 34 inches by 16 inches, is $115, and all pillows ship free in a really excellent box. No compression here!
It’s hard to put a price tag on waking up pain-free, but I’d probably pay twice as much as what Pluto is charging.
Pluto ships their pillows all over the contiguous United States, and they’re working on adding Alaska and Hawaii. The pillows ship from the company’s facility in Los Angeles, California, and should arrive within 7 business days unless otherwise stated.
However, there’s currently a banner on the homepage indicating that these pillows are in high demand and some orders could be delayed by 6 weeks.
I wasn’t expecting to like this pillow at all, much less as much as I do. My custom pillow is quilted and cooling. The latter is a feature I’ve never experienced before, and I honestly didn’t know what I was missing.
It’s also soft and squishy — my favorite — but there’s a distinct layer of support that keeps my neck properly aligned, even when I’m rolling from mysideto mystomachand back again. I’m one of thosecombination sleepers, and I tend to move around quite a bit throughout the night. The fact that this pillow can support me in multiple positions is really saying something.
While Pluto makes no claims about their pillow’s ability to resolve pain (and explicitly states this on theirFAQs page), I’m not the only customer to find it so effective in that regard. More than1,000 reviewson the Pluto website rave about their pillows, and a good number mention how they’ve dramatically reduced or resolvedneck pain.
My only quibble relates to how my pillowcase fits on this pillow. It’s an open-ended pillowcase, and it tends to wiggle its way about a quarter off in the night. This isn’t an issue I had with my old pillow, and I’m guessing it’s because of the silky-smooth surface of the quilted cover. But it’s not that serious, and I could probably resolve the issue with an envelope-close pillowcase.
Pros
- simple questionnaire
- great customer service
- generous trial period
- high quality materials and a truly customized pillow
Cons
- higher price point than other pillows

Buy this pillow. And don’t wait. Everyone deserves a pillow that’s been customized to their body, their sleeping habits, and their preferences — even if you don’t know what those are yet.
If you’re routinely waking up with aches and pains in the neck, shoulders, and upper back, take a good, long look at your pillow. A pillow designed just for you could be exactly what you need, and Pluto makes the experience surprisingly simple and risk-free.
